Yeah, the Civic definitely doesn’t feel ‘compact’ anymore! 46.2 ft^3 (edited correction) of storage space with the seats folded. This would be the IDEAL buy for college students looking to move out.

Now I wonder what my MPGs will be during this roughly 520 mile trip to my new location. Rated at 40 highway, so I’m going to guess around 32-35 taking into account slightly higher speeds and my luggage.

I wouldn’t mind a Civic hatch. The only thing I mind about it is the price.

College kids have it so easy my college computer and monitor took up half of the storage space in my 86 Nissan Pulsar

According to google my Mazda3 has 2 more cubic feet than you. Bwahahahaha. I win the Internet cargo measuring contest that no one asked for.

In all seriousness, love having a hatch. I thought they were dumb when I was younger but can’t imagine not having one. Good luck with the move

72 ft^3 ft. That’s my land barge in the middle. My dad literally cannot wait to load it up and send me to uni. Jealous of your mileage, I barely crest 22 mpg on the highway although I suppose I’m rarely freeway cruising :/

45 cubic feet is enough to move out? Wow. With the cap on my Comanche I’ve got like, 110, and that would’ve been full. (Didn’t have the cap yet in university).

Considering that’s twice as much space it means half as many trips which means I’m more efficient at 18mpg.

That was completely meaningless as I would’ve been more efficient at packing if I had less space to stick it in. But it makes me feel better about driving a thirsty Jeep.

Haha, I have some family coming in a second car on another day to help set up, which will carry a larger suitcase of mine and less than a handful of small boxes. But still, if I removed my mom’s suitcase, I *probably* could fit all my stuff, but my rear view would be totally sacrificed. Maybe. But who cares, glad I got this bodystyle, I was never really as interested in the sedan.

Oh definitely, hatch over sedan.

I managed to move almost all my stuff in the Niva once. Had to unbolt the rear seat and slide it in along the side for more efficiency. Also had enough stuff in the passenger seat that I only had about 100° of visibility from my left shoulder to the windshield. Couldn’t see anything in the rearview or passenger side mirrors. It was only 200 miles so no big deal, right?
